1. Concept of UPS

2. Operating principle of UPS
The operating principle of UPS is based on converting DC voltage from the battery to AC current suitable for the requirements of the device. 3. Classification of UPS
Based on the operating principle, UPS is divided into 2 main product lines: Offline and Online. The Offline UPS line is also divided into 2 branches: standard Offline and improved Offline with Line Interactive technology. Offline UPS provides output current in the form of a near-sine wave (simulated sine wave), Online line with online double conversion technology (Online Double Conversion), providing output current in the form of a standard sine wave.
Offline UPS: Standard Offline UPS is the most popular product line on the market today and is cheaper than Offline UPS with improved Line Interactive technology. The operating principle of the standard Offline UPS is that the input grid power goes through the switch before being supplied to the load. At this time, the UPS only uses the charger to fully charge the battery. In case the grid power is unstable (too high, too low or power outage), the UPS will automatically switch (through the relay), using power from the battery to supply the device to maintain operation.

UPS offline
Line Interactive UPS: Its operating principle is similar to the standard Offline UPS line but has an additional voltage regulator circuit to adjust the output voltage to provide a stable load. In case the grid voltage is too high or too low, the Offline UPS with Line Interactive technology, the voltage regulator circuit automatically switches to another level so that the output voltage ensures the correct load as required.

UPS Line Interactive
The design of the Offline UPS line is only suitable for use with office equipment and computers; devices with purely resistive loads. Offline UPS has a switching time of about 10 ms (milliseconds) and cannot extend the backup time with internal and external batteries. Standard Offline UPS does not support voltage stabilization function.
Online UPS: Completely overcoming the disadvantages of Offline UPS, Online UPS with Online Double Conversion technology helps eliminate grid problems because the input voltage is always modulated before being supplied to the load. The grid power is not supplied directly to the device but is converted into DC current to charge the battery and inverter. The inverter will continue to convert the received DC current into an output voltage suitable for the device in use. Thus, it can be seen that when any problem occurs in the grid, your device is always safe.

UPS Online
Online UPS is usually designed with large capacity (from 1KVA ~ 500KVA), can extend the backup time with internal and external batteries, so in addition to devices with purely resistive loads such as office equipment, computers, Online UPS can also be used for server systems, data centers and even motor load devices.
